"Nothing could be more enslaving and therefore less worthy of the human mind than to have it chained to the mechanics of language rather than freeing it to dwell on the message conveyed through language." Lado, 1957

Valentine's Day

If you know Tim and I at all, you'll know that we love eating...which shouldn't be a coincidence since we grew up in Asia. Dinner tonight went like this:
Starters ~ Sand Crab lasagne
Main course ~ Lamb cutlets
Desert ~ Chocolate mousse and berries
State ~ I'm going to explode!

Today has made me truly grateful for two things: good food and an incredible husband.

I love you Tim xxx

Pursuit of Happyness

I love this movie. It's a sobering reminder of how much excess we have in our lives.

He has prepared a city for them

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible...Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. By faith Noah , when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even thought he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and wlcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say sich things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Anniversary number one - 5.11.06

I love my husband. I love being married. I love the way God shapes us in marriage.
I'm beginning to understand what Paul meant when he wrote that if I have not love, I gain nothing.

Fare well

Well, after 19 months at Sarina Russo, my time has finally come to an end. I would be lying if I said that I was sad about leaving but I must acknowledge that my life has been completely changed by the challenges I've faced and the people I’ve worked with. I've learnt the value giving everyone a fresh start. I've learnt that life really is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to those circumstances. I've learnt that you can't change what you don't acknowledge. I've learnt that communication is the key to every relationship and that life is about connecting with people.

I have no doubt that my new job will be filled with its own challenges, but I feel like the difficulties I faced at Russo made me more resilient, gave me more empathy and deepened my understanding of the human condition.

So for now, goodbye Russo, hello Davidson!
